ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE

Rowlett is a lakeside destination surrounded by natural beauty and recreational, cultural, and entertainment opportunities.

NO TAX RATE INCREASE

On May 4, 2024, residents of Rowlett are asked to go to the polls to consider authorizing the issuance of bonds in the amount of $51.35 million for four bond propositions. Each of these projects were carefully considered and proposed by the citizen-led Council-appointed Community Investment Program Task Force, and the City Council voted to place these propositions on the ballot for citizens’ consideration.

2024 BOND ELECTION PUBLIC MEETINGS

6:30 p.m. April 11 & April 23 @ City Hall

Wet Zone - opened in 2001

  • $1.5M – Wet Zone Waterpark repairs and enhancements. Includes HVAC, Emergency Stop, Door repairs, replace Turtle Cove features, new and replacement shade structures, and replacing the sand volleyball court with a shade pavilion.​​​

Kids Kingdom Renovations - last renovated in 2015 

  • $1.0M – Kids Kingdom renovations include replacing the play surface and updates and repairs to existing features. 

Community Park Maintenance Facility Improvements 

  • $2.0M - New structure to house equipment and staff currently in a temporary structure.

Rowlett Community Centre

  • $1.25M - Renovations and enhancements including flooring replacement in Gym A.

Parking Lot improvements at three locations 

  • $2.25M - Expand and improve parking lots at Pecan Grove Park, Springfield Park, and Katy Railroad Park.

Park Enhancements

  • $0.5M - Enhancements including possible trail development, playground installations, and kayak launches at Lakeside Park South, Sunset Park and Columbia Park.

Parks & Recreation Facts:

Rowlett has over 600 acres of parkland with 30 current and future parks, walking trails and green spaces.

 

 Paddle Point Park is #29 on the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Paddling Trail list, bringing kayak and canoe enthusiasts into Rowlett from all over Texas.

 

Community Park hosts baseball, softball, and soccer tournaments, bringing thousands of visitors every year to Rowlett.

 

The Rowlett Community Centre offers a full-service fitness center and dozens of convenient classes and programs for all ages, from toddlers to senior citizens.

 

More than 200 million people across the United States live within a 10-minute walk of at least one park or trail.

Seventy-four percent of U.S. residents live within a walkable distance of a local park or other recreation opportunity (including playgrounds, open space, recreation centers).
